Scholarships

The Fostering Success scholarship is the program’s general scholarship.

Students who have been invited to participate in the Fostering Success Program are eligible to apply for the Fostering Success Program (FSP) Scholarship. Additional eligibility includes demonstration of financial need, minimum GPA of 2.0, and full-time status. The amount award is $2500 for the whole academic year, with $1250 each semester. FSP Scholars receive one-on-one coaching/mentoring in the Fostering Success Program.

It is administered through the CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA), which is available beginning December 1 each year. Current and incoming CSU students are eligible to apply using the CSUSA through RamWeb. The deadline to complete the CSUSA is March 1.

• The expectation is that the applicant will be actively engaged in the program (attend at least 2 events per year)

• The scholarship can only be awarded to currently enrolled Colorado State University students only. The preference will be given to undergraduate students but graduate students can apply.

The Berghoefer Schoarship is a $3000 award designed to support a student who will be doing a field experience in the Spring or Summer. Funding can be used to support study abroad, internship, alternative spring break or other field experiences. To be eligible for the Berghoefer Award, applicants must be active Fostering Success Program participants, demonstrate financial need, be full time status and maintain good academic & conduct standing. Fostering Success Program participants will be notified through email and Facebook in the fall when the application to apply becomes available.

PEO is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women in education. Eligibility includes women with active status in the Fostering Success Program and full time status. Students who have been invited to participate in the Fostering Success Program are eligible to apply for the Glenn Grise Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is being offered in memory of Glenn Grise by his son. Glenn worked for Dimension Data (an IT consultation company); both the family and company made a commitment to supporting students from independent backgrounds. Additional eligibility includes demonstration of financial need, minimum GPA of 2.0, and full-time status. The amount award is $5200 for the whole academic year, with $2600 each semester. Glenn Grise Scholars receive one-on-one coaching/mentoring in the Fostering Success Program.

Students who have been in foster care at any time (e.g. foster home, group home, or placed with relative by court order) are eligible to apply for the 4^th Stone Scholarship. Additional eligibility includes a minimum GPA of 2.5 and full-time status. The amount award is $9500 for the whole academic year, with $4750 each semester. 4th Stone scholars receive one-on-one coaching/mentoring in the Fostering Success Program.

Fostering Success Program students who have been raised in foster or kinship care who are undergraduates in the College of Health and Human Sciences are welcome to apply for this $1000 award. https://colostate.academicworks.com/opportunities/26074

Students raised in foster or kinship care who are undergraduates in the School of Social Work, School of Education, Occupations Therapy, Human Development & Family Studies, Food Science & Human Nutrition, Family & Consumer Sciences or Design & Merchandising are welcome to apply for the Carol A. Each year in early May, the Cinco-Cinco 5K Run/Walk, and Children’s Fun Run is held at Colorado State University to raise money for the Gil Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship for deserving students. The event is held in memory of Gil Gutierrez, the Ombudsman at Colorado State, who was hit by a drunk driver while jogging in August of 1993, and died later that week. Reisher Scholarship – The Reisher Family established the Reisher Family Scholarship Fund in January 2000 with the mission to provide educational opportunities for promising and economically qualified Colorado undergraduate students. Scholars are highly motivated, goal-oriented, responsible, and/or likely to make a contribution to society as evidenced by community service, leadership activities, work experience, or unusual experience. The selection process is competitive and there are a limited number of awards available. Award amounts range between $4,000 and $11,000 per year and is determined by completion of the FAFSA and the subsequent unmet need. Awards are renewable if the scholar meets the program requirements. The Helen M. McLoraine Scholarship Program for Foster Care and Emancipating Youth provides educational scholarships for foster care youth who are emancipated or are in the process of preparing to emancipate from the foster care system in Colorado. Read more about the scholarship and its requirements at the Denver Foundation website.

Foster Care to Success (FC2S) has provided scholarships to deserving foster youth since 1987. It than partnered with the Casey Family Foundation for older foster youth transitioning from care to successful adulthood through education. Casey Family Programs provides funding for students in community colleges, public and private universities, and technical/career programs in all 50 states. FC2S provides the encouragement, mentoring and practical support these students need to do well not only in school but in their personal lives. Forward Steps helps Colorado foster youth as they pursue a post-secondary education. The Forward Steps scholarship provides assistance of up to $6,000 per academic year to participants enrolled as full-time college students.
